Hi peeps,
There are lots of people constantly asking me this question: What is the difference between essential oils and frangrant oils? / Can i substitute frangrant oils for essential oils?” Basically, essential oils and frangrant oils are ‘relatives’, and both are used in massage blends, baths, inhalers etc…
But, the main difference is that essential oils have therapeutic effects, but fragrant oils do not! And, as essential oils are being extracted or distilled from plants, whereas fragrant oils are synthetic and not therefore not suitable to be used in aromatherapy, for healing of the body , mind & soul. And because frangrant oils are cheaper, they are mostly used in soaps, candles and incense.
You may not know that it takes 50 pounds of eucalyptus, 150 pounds of lavender, 500 pounds of rosemary, 1,000 pounds of jasmine and over 2,000 pounds of rose to make a single pound of essential oil! Therefore, it costs much more than frangrant oils.
Pure essential oils, like precious jewelry or fine wine, are gems of nature – and sometimes called the “soul” of the plant. People who truly appreciate the qualities of pure essential oils consider each drop a precious jewel to be savored, enjoyed and protected. When used appropriately, essential oils can create a therapeutic , revitalizing experience, hence used by many professionals for healing purposes.
