How To Regain A Slim Body After Birth
Expectancy has always been a gift of joy and happiness for the entire family. Yet it is also a trying time for the new mum, who has to suddenly undergo a period of changes to her life. A lady who gives birth, to my opinion, is the act of great sacrifice. After going through a period of trying trimester, they finally produce life, bringing a miracle to the family.
Yet… most ladies will be shocked at the aftermath. They still look pregnant after childbirth!! This is something most women ain’t ready for, and that plus all the incessant crying of baby day and night can drive many into postnatal blues. How can they face their colleagues or friends with that bulging tummy and fat thighs? What about all those gorgeous cheongsam they used to wear for their chinese new year? Indeed, this is a form of tragedy which the men would never understand.
Now, let me share some knowledge with you on how you should tackle this issue if you are ever in such a situation.
- Breast-feed
A sure way to shed 500-600 calories per day if you breast feed. However, not all ladies can produce sufficient milk due to poor latching techniques. If you truly wish to use this approach but can’t seem to produce enough to feed, do not despair. Seek out professional doctor’s help and advice. Former artise Diana Ser used to be told that she is “Bo ni” (hokkien meaning for lacking in milk) and she kept looking around until she found a doctor who taught her the “art of latching”. Be warned though that breast feeding can leave some mothers with a voracious appetite that can create the effect of over compensation.
- Effective Elimination of Water Retention
There are many ways to do this, ranging from traditional jamu massage, eating the right food with less sodium to hydrotherapy spa treatment. For more information, read the previous post on how to eliminate water retention.
- Combining Efficient Dieting With Exercise
There are soooo many forms of diet available in the market. You have the atkins diet, the cambridge diet, south beach diet, blood type diet. It is totally confusing. Some are good, some are nonsense. I will give more comments on these diets in my future posts. Watch out for it! It is recommended to consult your doctor first before embracing any forms of diet, especially if you have medical conditions like diabetes, high/low blood pressure, caesarian section etc.
In summary, go for a diet that follows the healthy food pyramid advocated by the the Singapore govt nutrition board, ie more fibre complex carbohydrate intake like whole wheat bread, brown rice, etc rank as the most recommended, fatty food like margarine, trans fats (read my previous post), etc to be avoided like plague. Combining a healthy balanced diet which focused on less calorie and glycemic index is highly recommended by many dieticians and nutritionists. It is also important to combine healthy meals with good work out. You should exercise at least 3-5 days a week. If you hate to sweat, consider going for the ultimate home slimming solution YAN SPA SG2000, which is actually a hydrotherapy spa machine for the home. Using it everyday can help you shed 200-300 calories per day!
It is definitely possible to regain a slim body after birth if you do not procrastinate and work at it. Don’t wait, because statistics have shown that chances of women becoming obese climbs a staggering +7% with every childbirth!! Please bear that in mind.
Okay will share more beauty and wellness tips in my next post. Ciaos~!

How To Avoid/Eliminate Body Water Retention!
Hi Gals!
Let us take a look at a dreaded aspect of ladies- Water retention!! Water retention happens when excess fluid in your body builds up and gets stored in your tissues. When you feel you have uncomfortably bloated and tight skin, swelling in the arms and legs, your clothes or accessories start feeling really tight and redness with pain are all signs that your body is gaining water retention! The reasons can be renumerous, and if your body can holding onto too much water, be sure to check with your doctor if you have a severe case of water retention. Fear not ladies, here are some tips to apply to prevent and elimate the dreaded “WR” into your everyday life.
1. Drop Those Salty Food!
Salty foods are a large cause of water retention. You should only be getting AT MOST 3 teaspoons of salt a day. Excessive salt in your diet leads to excessive water retention in your body, so cut down salt to decrease your risk.
2. Avoid Certain Foods that Commonly cause Water Retention
Do you know> Melon is one such food that cause water retention, so only eat a slice and not the whole thing the next time it is on the menu.
3. Up your Daily Calcium and Potassium Intake
The minerals calcium and potassium are both important in helping your body process water. Take a supplement, or eat more foods rich in these minerals to avoid dealing with bloating. Watercress, rosemaryand cabbage contains potassium.
4. Drink Herbal Tea Regularly
Try herbal solutions to water retention. It seem to work for many people… Drink dandelion tea. High in calcium, a system tonic and a gentle laxative, dandelion tea removes the acid in the blood and helps purify the system.
5. Remember Your Vitamins B and C
It is recommended to take vitamins B and C to aid in processing water in the body and making sure circulation is under control. Add these vitamins to your day by taking a supplement, or eating foods rich in them.
6. Power of Garlic!
Garlic has certain great health properties. Eat one clove of garlic a day to detoxify your body. Flushing the toxins out of your body is a good way for the water to be able to be flushed as well. If you prefer garlic supplement pills, you can consider that as well. But do read the labels and get only pure garlic supplementary contents.
7. Exercise- Or try Hydrotherapy SPA (YAN SPA SG2000)
Exercise helps improve water and blood circulation and aids your body system in running more smoothly. Hydrotherapy spa is medically proven to eliminate water retention. My company, YAN Spa & Wellness deals with home spa therapy. It is easy and possible to incorporate home spa lifestyle which will eliminate potention problems as “WR”.
8. Avoid Stress
Stress has a negative effect on the body, and helps the body hold onto toxins and unwanted excess, like water. Take time to relieve your daily stress, and stay healthy so you can know when your body needs more attention. Again, I will do some shameless promotion here regarding what my company does. Heheh. Tips on how to dress to look slim :)
Nobody is born perfect. Everyone of us have flaws , but however, it may be mentally depressing to see someone out there with a slim figure. In this post, i will be giving you some tips on how to dress for a slimming effect- No matter whether it’s the thighs, stomach or hips that you are looking at!
I guess the stomach is the area that most ladies are not satisfied with. We always see celebrities with flat stomachs in magazines and figures and we are wondering how do they actually achieve that? Do they actually eat or are they anorexic you may be wondering…Having a potbelly is definately not going to look good and here are some tips on how to dress to make your stomach look flatter!
Firstly, do not wear pants or jeans that are too tight as you do not want your fats to be burgling out, wear big pants instead on the lower stomach to create a slimmer look.
Secondly, do not wear straight cut skirts and drawstring trousers. Wear flat panel trousers or skirts and pants with zips at the sides instead.
For ladies with big thighs, here are some tips:
-Wear open-toed sandals or wedged shoes, it will help (silly, but it really helps), dun ever wear kitten heels!
-Wear a bright top to take away the emphasis on your lower body
-Wear bootcut trousers / jeans instead of straight cut
-Wear A line skirts
-You may try going for a fake tan to create a slimmer look for your thighs(my friend tried it and it really works)
Well, that’s all for today. Hope the tips help. Nitez all.
