<p>If you ever take a good look at women who possess great charm, you will notice that they exult a certain aura that gets head turn towards them. Yet sometimes you realise that they may not even be a fraction as gorgeous as Katherine Zeta Jones or any ladies you define as beautiful. What&#8217;s the reason for this unspeakable aura of x factor? A consistently healthy self esteem!</p>
<p>So having said that, what creates a consistently healthy self esteem? Why is it that you sometimes feel great for a short span of time and then suddenly like a deflated balloon, started feeling insecure? The secret is Self Affirmation. Let&#8217;s see how this works!</p>
<p>Basically, if you consistently remind yourself of your strengths everyday and try to down size your weaknesses, you will eventually start to perform better in everything you do, and with this new found confidence to face life, you too will start to ooze out that aura of self-assureness and charm.  But how is this possible? <li>Every night without fail, before you sleep, re affirm yourself 100 times &#8220;I&#8217;m confident &amp; attractive.&#8221; Night time affirmations are most effective because the time before you sleep, your subconscious mind will absorb the message more easily.</li>
<li>Every morning when you wake up, re affirm 20 times &#8220;I&#8217;m confident &amp; attractive&#8221;. This serves as a reminder mantra to stimulate what you chanted to yourself every night.</li>
<li>Do this consistently and you will start to feel different in 14 days. Yes, just 14 days! Do not feel complacent. Continue your rountine every night until you become a changed person. Your surrounding friends and even spouse WILL feel the difference.</li>

Because by repeating this everyday and nite, you are telling your subconscious mind that you mean business, and they will remove your &#8220;old negative software&#8221; in your mind and replace with this new &#8220;version&#8221; that will make you a better person. <p>Expectancy has always been a gift of joy and happiness for the entire family. Yet it is also a trying time for the new mum, who has to suddenly undergo a period of changes to her life. A lady who gives birth, to my opinion, is the act of great sacrifice. After going through a period of trying trimester, they finally produce life, bringing a miracle to the family. </p>
<p>Yet&#8230; most ladies will be shocked at the aftermath. They still look pregnant after childbirth!! This is something most women ain&#8217;t ready for, and that plus all the incessant crying of baby day and night can drive many into postnatal blues. How can they face their colleagues or friends with that bulging tummy and fat thighs? What about all those gorgeous cheongsam they used to wear for their chinese new year? Indeed, this is a form of tragedy which the men would never understand.</p>
<p>Now, let me share some knowledge with you on how you should tackle this issue if you are ever in such a situation.</p>
<ul>
<li><em><strong>Breast-feed</strong></em></li>
</ul>
<blockquote><p>A sure way to shed 500-600 calories per day if you breast feed. However, not all ladies can produce sufficient milk due to poor latching techniques. <p>In summary, go for a diet that follows the healthy food pyramid advocated by the the Singapore govt nutrition board, ie more fibre complex carbohydrate intake like whole wheat bread, brown rice, etc rank as the most recommended, fatty food like margarine, trans fats (read my previous post), etc to be avoided like plague. Combining a healthy balanced diet which focused on less calorie and glycemic index is highly recommended by many dieticians and nutritionists. It is also important to combine healthy meals with good work out. You should exercise at least 3-5 days a week. <p>All of us know that there are alot of different types of fats such as saturated fatty acids, mono unsaturated fatty acids and poly unsaturated fatty acids. Today I would like to share with some information on trans fat.</p>
<p>I believe everyone of you have heard of trans fat, but some of you may still not be very sure what they actually are.</p>
<p>Trans fat is actually very bad for our health and studies have shown that it leads to an increase of bad cholesterol.</p>
<p>They are actually formed when vegetable oil goes through a process called &#8220;hydrogenation&#8221;, meaning subjecting vegetable oil to intense heat and nickel. (Think of deep fried food , your favourite fast food&#8230;.)</p>
<p>Yes, they are delicious <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  but extremely bad for health <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' />  as the body do not require them at all !</p>
<p>Excessive consumption can lead to other dieseases besides heart diesease.</p>
<p>Having said that, however, our body still need a certain right amount of essentail fatty acids as it aids in producing &#8220;prostaglandin&#8221; which helps to control blood pressure, preventing blood clotting in the arteries.</p>
<p>I recommend that people should cut down on excessive consumtion of food such as deep fried food, fast food , margarine etc.</p>

The reasons can be renumerous, and if your body can holding onto too much water, be sure to check with your doctor if you have a severe case of water retention. Fear not ladies, here are some tips to apply to prevent and elimate the dreaded &#8220;WR&#8221; into your everyday life. </span></p>

<p>Nobody is born perfect. Everyone of us have flaws , but however, it may be mentally depressing to see someone out there with a slim figure. In this post, i will be giving you some tips on how to dress for a <a target="_blank" href="http://yanspa.com" title="Secrets of Slimming Revealed">slimming effect</a>- No matter whether it&#8217;s the thighs, stomach or hips that you are looking at!</p>
<p>I guess the stomach is the area that most ladies are not satisfied with. We always see celebrities with flat stomachs in magazines and figures and we are wondering how do they actually achieve that? Do they actually eat or are they anorexic you may be wondering&#8230;Having  a potbelly is definately not going to look good and here are some tips on how to dress to make your stomach look flatter!</p>
<p>Firstly, do not wear pants or jeans that are too tight as you do not want your fats to be burgling out, wear big pants instead on the lower stomach to create a slimmer look.</p>
<p>Secondly, do not wear straight cut skirts and drawstring trousers. Wear flat panel trousers or skirts and pants with zips at the sides instead.</p>
<p>For ladies with big thighs, here are some tips:</p>
<p>-Wear open-toed sandals or wedged shoes, it will help (silly, but it really helps), dun ever wear kitten heels!</p>
<p>-Wear a bright top to take away the emphasis on your lower body</p>
<p>-Wear bootcut trousers / jeans instead of straight cut</p>
<p>-Wear A line skirts</p>
<p>-You may try going for a fake tan to create a slimmer look for your thighs(my friend tried it and it really works)</p>

DIY face masks which are made of natural ingredients are perfect for naturally beautiful in as the ingredients are fresh. Allow plenty of time for the ingredients to soak into your skin to have the restorative effects! There are different face masks for different skin types and remember to use only the freshest ingredients! Yes, you can use them with <a target="_blank" href="http://www.yanspa.com" title="Home Spa Specialist">home spa </a>to create the best experience!</p>
<p>Here are the recipes:</p>
<p>For people who are scared of ageing <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  - The bananas &amp; Cream Anti-Ageing mask</p>
<p>1)Banana &amp; cream anti-ageing mask for skin of all ages</p>
<p>-1 small banana</p>
<p>-2 tbsp of yogurt(natural)</p>
<p>-1 tbsp of honey (preferably organic honey)</p>
<p>-1 tbsp of oat flour</p>
<p>-spring water</p>
<p>Mash the banana and add the yogurt , honey and the oat flour. Add in the spring water and blend well. You can add another one tablespoon of yogurt if the mixture is not creamy enough. Apply the mask to your face after cleansing and leave it on for 30 minutes and wash away with lukewarm water. The solution can be kept for a period of about a month if refrigerated, but normally, i will discard after at most 2 weeks to ensure freshness of the mask. <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>2) For people who wants to restore tone and vitality &#8211; Berry Bright Mask</p>
<p>-A handful of almonds ( Almonds is a rich emollient)</p>
<p>-Half a cucumber</p>
<p>-3 straberries</p>
<p>-1 tsp of honey</p>
<p>- 1 tsp of yogurt (plain)</p>
<p>Blend all the ingredients until smooth and apply the mixture to cleansed, damp skin.</p>
<p>Leave it on for 15 minutes  or until dry and then wash off with warm water. This mask will help to keep your skin refreshed and toned!</p>

<p>Do have a bathtub at home? If you do, that&#8217;s superb! I am going to give you some Do It Yourself tips on how to have smooth supple skin while you are at home!</p>
<p>15-20 mins in the bath all by yourself is a great time for letting go of all your worries and stress. Imagine yourself being empty, your mind in a piece of tranquil &#8211; peace&#8230;..</p>
<p>Personally, this is one of my favourite DIY baths and normally, i will do it with a DIY mask when i am relaxing myself in the bath as well! This bath when coupled with the face mask, relaxes the whole body as well as make your skin look youthful, releasing it&#8217;s natural glow!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the recipe:</p>
<p>For the bath, use hot water with 8 drops of jasmine oil and 8 drops of fennel oil. Please only use 100% pure essential oils to obtain the best results for therapeutic effects.(<a target="_blank" href="http://jasminelee.wordpress.com/2007/07/13/essential-oil-vs-fragrant-oil/" title="Essential Vs Fragrant">Click here </a>for my previous post on diference of essential oils and fragrant oils)</p>
<p>As for the facial, mix 1 cup of cucumber juice and 1/4 cup of honey and apply it onto your face and neck using cotton balls.Please remember to apply it upwards and not downwards and start it at the base of your neck and slowly stroke gently towards your forehead. Avoid the eye area and after applying the mask, quickly soak yourself in the bath that you have prepared for 15-20 minutes.  This DIY face mask and body soak will leave your skin tighter and youthful looking!</p>
<p>Also, do remember that this 15-20 minutes is a very personal time for you to be by yourself, totally relaxing in the essence of the bath, so please please, Do Not Let Anyone Disturb You!(No hubby, no children,no telephone calls,not anyone else, just yourself!!!)</p>
<p>I normally play some soothing music to allow myslef to feel the music penetrating to my heart, mind and soul while the bath and facial ingredients penetrating into my skin. Try t at home once &#8211; twice a week and you will see your skin improving while you achieve total indulgence and inner peace! Perfect for creating ageless, smoother and tighter skin!</p>

<p>All of us know that having a good skincare regimen is important in maintaining soft, baby complexion But, does everyone knows what are the exact steps to maintaining good skin-in the long run? There is a chinese saying that goes &#8221; Shi jie shang mei you lan nu ren, zhi you chou nu ren&#8221;, and it simply means that there is no ugly woman in the world, just lazy woman.Therefore, how your complexion will be is determined by how well you take care of it-how much effort you put in to maintain your complexion on a day-to-day basis.</p>
<p>So, what are the procedures of a daily skincare regime? All of us surely knows the basic procedures:</p>
<p>1)Cleanser</p>
<p>2)Toner</p>
<p>3)Serum/Boosters</p>
<p>4)Moisturiser/Night Cream for night</p>
<p>5)Sunblock(to be skipped at night)</p>

<p>But before purchasing the right products for your skin, you will firstly need identify your own skin type.Your skin type is determined by how much or how little oil your skin produces. Genes, diet, stress level, medication &amp; even your skincare regimen all determine how much oil your skin produces. Is your skin oily, dry, normal, combination( dry/oily) or sensitive as different products will cater for different skin types for the optimum results. Buy only products that suit your skin type.</p>
<p>Personally for me, i have sentitive skin, therefore, i am very careful with the product that i use From cleanser to sunblock to mask!</p>
<p>Here goes my skincare regimen:</p>
<p>1)DermalogicaUltra calming cleanser</p>
<p>2)Dermalogica Multi Active Toner</p>
<p>3)Dermalogica Gentle soothing booster</p>
<p>4)Dermalogica Skin Soothing cream</p>
<p>5)Dermalogica Ultra sensitive sunblock (SPF 25)</p>
<p>Ok ok ok, seriously, i think Dermalogica should pay me for advertsing for them, haha. I am a hard core fan! But seriously, i love their products and have been using them for nearly 4 years now! Their products are great for sensitive skin like mine.</p>
<p>Using a face scrub once a week is also essential to exfoliate all the dead skin , but please do take note that excessive exfoliation will cause your skin to be very sensitive and even aggravate pimples,so exfoliating once a week is more than enough. Using masks two-three times a week will only replenish your skin with additional moisture and deep detox that your skin needs. I love using masks and i do masks like 4 times per week,and sometimes i will do my mask while i <a target="_blank" href="http://www.yanspa.com" title="The Ultimate Home Spa">spa </a>- and i love doing DIY masks too! Masks are so relaxing and pampering to our skin and it adds the additional radiance to our skin, making our skin feels supple after every use. Some good recommendations will be the hydrating masque from Dermalogica and it is for all skin types and origins charcoal masque which is for deep cleansing purposes.</p>
<p>I hope this entry will help gals out there who are clueless on the steps and procedures of the daily skincare regime and start taking care of our skin now before it is too late! Will give you all more information on the recipes of the DIY masks that i usually do at home in upcoming entries&#8230;&#8230;.</p>

<p>Adding on to my previous post, it is indeed very true that everyone of us will encounter stress in some parts of our lifes, especially in a hectic society like Singapore. (eg:Students being pressured by their parents to get good grades, Working adults vieing for a higher position in the workplace, Parents worrying for their child&#8217;s education, financial etc)</p>
<p>Studies and research by scientists have also proved that stress actually causes ageing!!! which i personally think is very scary for ladies as we know that ladies tend to age faster than guys, and therefore it is advised that we should start to use anti-ageing products when we are in our early 20s to slow down the signs of ageing. (Btw, Im using anti-ageing serum now as well&#8230;Kiasu <img src='http://s2.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> )</p>
<p>New research has also shown that over-the-top stress goes beyond a temporary increase in blood pressure, and actually injures (and often kills) the cells of your body and brain. This accelerates the aging process thus leaving you prone to a long list of diseases. Woah, we can see how stress will actually affect all aspects of our lives&#8230;and besides using good skincare products and following strictly to the skincare regime to slow down the signs of ageing, watching our diet is also very important as well. <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Some of the food that can prevent ageing are apples,  grapes, strawberry, cabbage, tomatoes and drinking green tea helps as well, as it is an anti-oxident, personally, i drink green tea like once a day, usually in the afternoon after lunch or after dinner.</p>
<p>Ageing is scary and we should take measures to slow down the signs of ageing, but ultimately, i feel the best way to prevent ageing is to stay happy and being able to handle stress effectively&#8230;Read my previous post to find out more on how to handle stress effectively!</p>

So the most effective solution to stress is not how are we going to avoid it, but how we are to overcome it! We need to learn to live with stress &#8211; and get the upper hand. Or it will take its toll on our health.</font></font><font size="1"> </font><font size="1"><font size="1"> </font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"> </font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">So, what is stress?</font></font></font></font><font size="1"> </font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"> </font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">Stress is defined as our reaction to the external environment as well as our inner thoughts and feelings. It isn&#8217;t only what happens to us that creates stressful feelings, but it&#8217;s how we feel about what happens to us. Therefore learning to control our thoughts through meditation , yoga ,aromathrapy or other relaxation techniques can help in reducing stress.</font></font></font><font size="1"> </font></font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">Personally for me, when im stressed up, i will often take a aromatherapy spa bath with chamomile and lavender essential oils to help relax and calm my mind.Chamomile is good for the skin and lavender  soothes and relaxes the mind and body.Normally,i will soak myself in the aroma bath as well as do a face mask at the same time. <p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">1)Drink more water (Consume 8-10 glasses of water daily)</font></font><font size="1"> </font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">2)Eat sensibly to reduce stress as u r what u eat! (Try to eat more veggies+fruits and eliminate food like red meat and sweety stuff)</font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">3)Getting enough beauty sleep(Remember to sleep on your sides and back n not ur stomach!)</font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">4)Exercise regulary to reduce stress (vigorous exercise 20-45 minutes,3 times per week)</font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">5)Think positive!</font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"> </font></font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">6)Handle stress now! (No procastination as it usually leads to more and more increased stress for me)</font></font><font size="1"> </font></font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">Haha, and yah, lastly remember, choosing quality friends also helps in reducing stress! They are the ones whom u can trust and be yourself with!</font></font></font></font><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1"><font size="1">Ok, hope all of you out there will be able to handle stress if any problems are encountered. Remember, running away from a problem is not a good solution. Conquering your mind is the first thing to do so! </font></font></font></font></p>
